Actually, I'm installing Slack 9.1 on my old Toshiba Portege. I forgot that it dosen't like Fedora Core 1... Whatchya gonna do. I used Slack 9.1 before, and it's really quite leet. I don't consider myself leet, but I do like Slack! -beej

Given my background and my situation these are my thoughts: Favorites: 1. Debian 2. Gentoo 3. Redhat Most used: 1. Redhat 2. Debian 3. Gentoo Probably has something to do with my opinions. People screech when I say I like Redhat, but in all honestly, what isn't to like? Port apt-get for your rpms and thier discrepancies. Walla. Instant gratification. Sure, you might say "Bloat" but you can remove that. Ok, maybe you'll say "Redhat config utilities" ok, so don't use them. Or maybe your one of those who say "personalized services." Well, ever distro is personalized in some way. RH just chooses a different method. Choose your distro, but don't bash mine. BTW: Slack is decent, but a waste of time. Likewise is Gentoo. Hence, I don't use it much. I like both distros, just a waste of my time to admin. Sorry guys. o_O

I use almost exclusively FreeBSD 5.3 now.. and it runs everything from my webserver, desktop, good notebook, and 200MHz 32MB RAM notebook... and it runs well... Gentoo is cool.. but utterly freaking retarded to spend that kind of time simply installing the OS... <double post> (this site runs incredibly slow.. which is why I'm never here, and on LQ instead)

well apologies if this site is slow for you i run it at home on a notebook under the stairs, its not a powerful notebook but it does the business and for most people it seems to work quite well i'm sorry if you can't get a good speed to the server, it's based in Sweden, Europe.
