mplayer codecs

hi i can't get anything to play in mplayer because i think i need to install the codecs. It installed with no dependancy errors using yum. I do not have apt so pls dont describe how to get them with that. The mplayer itself works, but it wont play anything lol. mpg, avi, all that it doesnt see.

If you got the source of mplayer, you don't need any codecs

just run mplayer name.avi or run gmplayer (gui interface).
