hi all,

apologies for downtime today/yesterday but the server had to be updated (hardware wise) as I was seeing lots of file system error messages in dmesg like these ones... (and more..)

long story short, the same server (an old P3) had been serving up 5 websites including this one for the last 4 years or so and was well in need of replacing, and that I did today.

so far it seems ok, please notify me here (in this thread) of any problems you find with the server/posting

cheers

i tried dd but when i booted the new hard disc up on the new box it kernel panic'd, so i completely installed f8 from scratch, updated it via yum then compiled php/apache/mysql , then created the new databases, imported the old ones, imported the last years statistics (webalizer), and moved over all the cron jobs plus some other details like sshd config..

i've still quite a way to go before i'm done but at least it's now running on the new server with very little downtime

cheers

The problem is that you didn't link the kernel into your brain. Yeah I know, newbie mistake but you'll get the hang of it after a few years...

I've tracked ya down buddy!
