This is how I understand your current situation.

 • You have Fedora installed.

 • You have a copy of Windows XP which can boot from USB.

 • The Windows install boots, but sees the ext4 partition, and so will not install on the hard drive.

If that is correct, then this process should remove the ext4 partition and allow the Windows XP installer to proceed.

At the screen where Windows XP asks where you want to install it, you should see something like this:

<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_04_2010/post-1019-12717448299624.png" data-fileid="1257"></a>

Highlight any 'Unknown Partition' entries you see and press D, followed by L on each one to delete it. Obviously, you will lose all the data on all of the partitions you are deleting. Make sure nothing you care about is still on that system, or have the data backed up!

<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_04_2010/post-1019-12717448567985.png" data-fileid="1258"></a>

<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_04_2010/post-1019-12717447796597.png" data-fileid="1256"></a>

Once you have only 'Unpartitioned space' (see above), you should now press C. Press Enter at this screen:

<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_04_2010/post-1019-12717449033509.png" data-fileid="1259"></a>

Now press Enter to proceed with the install. Windows should offer to format the new partition as NTFS for you. After that, you should be able to proceed with the Windows XP install as normal.
