how do i unhighlight astring in vi

so i accidently highlighted the word "the" and now it's really annoying the hell outta me, how do i unhighlight it?

The easiest way i have found is to search on something else.

 

/aaaaaaa will usually not match anything and will remove the hilights.

Or type "set nohls". That will get all highlights out. Yeah, it is really Annoying tho.
