How can I take a screenshot in Linux?

Does anyone know how to take a screenshot in Linux? I can't for the life of me figure it out! Currently I'm on Slackware 10.1. Any help is appreciated. :(

if your using KDE you can use kSnapshot located in the graphics

section or at command line issue the following command
