Linux on laptops - InaVirtualGhetto - 2004-09-23 Well First off, I just wanna say, I finally got a job! Im set to begin working at a new Staples opening up near my home next month. Now, I got this job mainly because I want to buy a laptop. I am split between buying an ibook/powerbook or an ibm-compatible laptop. Now, my question is, what brand/model/etc laptop is the best choice for putting linux onto? OF course, if i buy a Mac, i am not going to put linux onto it, so my question really pertains more towards IBM-compatible laptops. Also, are there any brands/models/etc in particular to stay away from? Any suggestiosn? ty in advance... -Jim Linux on laptops - InaVirtualGhetto - 2004-09-23 Maybe I should explain what I am going to use the laptop for... Mainly, I am just going to chat/browse webpages/read and compose email/listen to music I want to get one with wifi built in. Regardless, I already have a 802.11b pc card, so this isnt really a must. oh and another question, i just wanna make sure that a WAP can handle more than one wifi connection at a time. My question is, can I have two or more laptops accessing the network from a single WAP? -Jim Linux on laptops - pofkezas - 2004-09-23 SuSe Linux 9.1 is great for laptops!
