Ubuntu + Windows XP - dark4190 - 2005-10-02 I have a 160 gig harddrive.. I've installed Windows first, on 50 gigs (for gaming) and then installed Ubuntu Linux on the leftover 100 gigs of the harddrive. Now the problem is that after I installed Ubuntu I cant get back to Windows. Even when I get into the Boot Menu, I only see 5 things with the name 'Ubuntu' in it. How can I get my Windows back? Thanks for any help given, or even just reading! Ubuntu + Windows XP - hybrid - 2005-10-02 Do you know whether you know this or not, and it doesn't matter if you don't (I'm sure someone more experienced will be infinitely better than me at explaining/fixing this). Are you using GRUB or LILO as your bootloader? (It may well be GRUB as I think this is Ubuntu's default). Ubuntu + Windows XP - gus - 2005-10-02 Grub is the default 4 Ubuntu Ubuntu + Windows XP - dark4190 - 2005-10-02 yeah, its GRUB.. anyways, I reinstalled Windows back over the 50 gig partition and now i'm stuck in Windows.. and can't get back In Linux.. It's a bit confussing.. It's a bit confussing.. Yeah, if you reinstall Windows it will basically get rid of GRUB for you (one of the things I don't like about Windows), so I hope you don't mind reinstalling Linux :). Try installing Linux again and see what happens this time. What are the options for bootloader configuraton in Ubuntu's installer? Make sure that Windows is set up as a boot option. I don't know Ubuntu well (in fact, not at all, even I'm new to Linux), but it might have failed to add it as an option. Don't know why there were five options for Ubuntu, though. :/ Ubuntu + Windows XP - gus - 2005-10-02 there is a guied to dual booting xp and debian an aboutdebian.com.....or something like that. sence Ubuntu is based on Debian (and i have noticed the install routeen is almost identical) you can give that a try. good luck, gus Ubuntu + Windows XP - gus - 2005-10-02 Quote:there is a guied to dual booting xp and debian an aboutdebian.com.....or something like that. sence Ubuntu is based on Debian (and i have noticed the install routeen is almost identical) you can give that a try.good luck,http://www.aboutdebian.com/dualboot.htm heres the url gus Ubuntu + Windows XP - dark4190 - 2005-10-02 thanks gus Ill give it a look...
