D-Link Wireless LAN on SUSE 10 - hybrid - 2006-01-20 Following on from this post (yes, it was successful), I am now trying to help a friend set up his wireless network on SUSE Linux 10 on an IBM Thinkpad. Having never done any wireless network stuff before (don't have a laptop), I don't know what to do to get the card to work. I have searched around and heard of ndiswrapper, but I have no idea how this works/how to set it up. I have also been doing extensive Googling to no avail. Judging by the problems anyweb had with SUSE 10, I don't think I can do this myself. The card is a PCMCIA D-Link DWL-G650+ AirPlusG+ CardBus Wireless LAN and it works perfectly on Windows XP. I have tried removing and adding the card from YaST2's LAN module numerous times with different settings to no avail. The card doesn't even light up in Linux. Here is the result of ifconfig: Code: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0A:E4:3A:51:73 inet6 addr: fe80::20a:e4ff:fe3a:5173/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST NOTRAILERS MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) Any help on this would be a great help, and thanks in advance. :) D-Link Wireless LAN on SUSE 10 - hybrid - 2006-01-22 Does anyone have any ideas? :/ D-Link Wireless LAN on SUSE 10 - anyweb - 2006-01-22 paste the output from lspci here cheers anyweb D-Link Wireless LAN on SUSE 10 - hybrid - 2006-01-23 OK, thanks, I should get a chance to use this laptop tomorrow, so I'll have the results by then. Well, unfortunately, at the time I managed to get this, the wireless PC card wasn't plugged in, but in case it's any use, here is the output. Will get the same with it plugged in asap. Any help would be brilliant, thanks. ACX111 is the chipset that you need to look for, I found this page here: http://www.houseofcraig.net/acx100_howto.php which pointed me onto the actual drivers site http://acx100.sourceforge.net/ Hope that helps D-Link Wireless LAN on SUSE 10 - hybrid - 2006-01-27 OK, thanks I'll have a look at that and download the drivers and try a compile. Thanks for the links, znx. :) |
