Battlefield server install under Mandrake linux
Posted by: majinbojin - 2004-02-15, 05:09 PM - Forum: Games in Linux - Replies (1)

Hallo,

We are propably the biggest linux n00bs in holland, thats why we installed a Mandrake Linux Download Edition on our U1 Gameserver.

We also downloaded the so called bf1942 Dedicated server for windows wich is in a .run format

Now we open the console and unpack and run the installation with the following command

sh ./bf1942.run

and this seems to work. After we accept all the stuff it askes we need to insert a direcory

we enter ./home/majin/bf1942 (wich is a directory we allready created)

but there is nothing there.. :/

Does someone know what we are ding wrong?

thx.

majin

  exe files
Posted by: Lem0 - 2004-02-14, 06:52 PM - Forum: Windows XP - Replies (4)

So I finally decided to switch back to my xp harddrive and battle the viruses. I cleaned them up thanks to www.trendmirco.com but they've left a little damage. Exe files wont run anymore without circumventing some things...

Double-clicking an exe file, using a shortcut to it, or attempting to run it from the run dialogue gives an error "Windows cannot find '[file]'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."

However, I can get around this by right-clicking it, using "run as" and using any setting in there.

I have no idea whats up with that, I'll probably end up reformatting it anyway, but I'd like to fix it first--it would save me the trouble of trying to burn a xp copy and install it under a seperate partition on my good (linux) hardrive. Any tips here would be appreciated.

  Can I get some help?

Hi Everyone-

I just installed RedHat 8.0 on one of my older systems (specs below)and I don't know if I have everything installed correctly yet:

1 Hard Drive Obviously installed correctly

1 CD-WR Haven't tested yet

Mother board DFI Inifinity Ultra Installed Drivers just how Nvidia said to.

CPU Athlon XP 1700+ ?

Sound Onboard Don't have extra speaks to test

Video GeForce 2 Ultra I just picked generic Geforce 2 but I don't

know how to install OpenGL

Monitor Touch? I know this monitor can do 1024x768@85hz

I don't think I have it installed correctly.

Mouse and Keyboard are good except I can't use the scroll on my mouse.

My biggest issues are that I can't get Seti@Home running and that I don't know how to install OpenGL. I would like to start testing out programs and games (MMORPG mostly) on my Linux box, but I believe I need a mentor to help me out and teach me how to be a paddiwan so that one day I may be a mighty Jedi.

Someone? :)
