How do I go about installing tightvnc on my fedora linux box so i can log in to the x server through my windows machine?

vncserver is already included in the fedora installation

simply click on the redhat (start menu), system settings, add remove applications and choose the 'system' section, in there, click on 'system tools' and put a check mark in 'vnc - a remote display system'

insert your cd when prompted and you will now have access to both vncserver and vncviewer

type vncserver as a normal user to start the server

Oh ok cool, then how would i go about it remote logging into it from a windows machine? Do i need a special program?

on the windows box all you need is vncviewer

get it from here > http://www.realvnc.com/dist/vnc-3.3.7-x86_win32_viewer.exe

install it, then enter the ip address of the linux box thats running vncserver plus the 'display' number

for example

192.168.0.1:1
