ah ! finally a network monitor applet that you can add - similar to xp/2k's show 'icon in notification area when connected'

 

i like it ! but it's dam big and this is a 21 inch monitor running @ 1600x1200@85hz

and yes i am aware of the wireless applet that did the same in redhat 8/9/fedora core release 1
