That's a bit of a lie, Linus has confirmed that the redrafting of GPLv3 was too his liking, it was the original that cause issues. I believe this latest draft has been very much welcomed.

Yeah, I think the article must be out of date as per Linus' stance as he did make it very clear that he was 'pretty pleased' with the latest draft.
